Biography

Claudia SanSoucie is originally from Nürnberg, Germany. Her father bought her her first guitar at age nine and "Get Back" by the Beatles was the first song she ever learned. A big fan of Sandy Denny, John Martyn, Bruce Cockburn and the likes, she took to performing in the streets of Europe at age 16 and became good friends with German Rock legend Sonny Hennig (Ihre Kinder) who took her under his wings and gave her plenty of reasons to skip school. She hung out in his recording studios, sung on various recordings ("Ihre Kinder Heute") and occasionally appeared live with his band, (at that time In Cahoots), adding backup vocals. She says "It was a fabulous way of getting my feet wet musically speaking."

In 1984, Claudia immigrated to the U.S. and called South-central Pennsylvania her home. Her musical adventures continued — from playing solo performances, to singing on commercials, to playing in several bands such as the popular band "The Moonbillies." By then, more and more original songs crept into her repertoire of songs she's always loved. In 1994 she played for a crowd of over 40,000 at the Yasgur’s farm Woodstock reunion and in 1995, she released a CD of original materials with her band Adam’s House Cat.

In 2000, she moved to Baltimore where she continues to perform as a solo artist in the Baltimore/Washington.D.C. area. Since 2002, she also travels back and forth between Europe and the U.S. reaquainting herself with her native continent and expanding her audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.

In 2005, she connected with fellow singer/songwriter Randall Williams in Groningen, Netherlands. Both travellers in Europe they enjoyed each other's music so much that they are now performing select dates in December in the U.S. and touring for three weeks in the summer of 2006 in Europe.

2 cents and more...

Claudia’s strong guitar work provides a solid anchor for her gentle vocals. She naturally fuses her jazz influence with alternate tunings, which give her songs a glow to match the warm lyrics and easy melodies.   ~ Randall Williams, Songwriter
